Vol. 117 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Carrigtwohill Dispensary Vacancy.

asked the Minister for Health whether he is aware that the post of medical officer for the Carrigtwohill Dispensary District, County Cork, has been vacant for approximately 18 months; and, if so, when it is proposed to appoint a permanent medical officer for the area.

I am aware that the office of medical officer of the Carrigtwohill Dispensary District is vacant since the 29th August, 1948. With a view to obviating delay in the filling of the post, I concurred in a proposal of the Local Appointments Commission to make a selection for recommendation to the local authority from candidates who were interviewed in May, 1947, in connection with a previous vacancy for this post, but it was not found possible to obtain a suitable candidate and the post has to be readvertised. I have asked the Local Appointments Commission to deal with the matter as soon as possible.
