Vol. 117 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - The Butter Ration.

Mr. Byrne

asked the Minister for Agriculture if the present production of butter is sufficient to allow an increase in the present ration.

It is estimated that, given normal weather conditions during the next three or four months, the output of creamery butter during the present season will be sufficient to meet consumption at the present level up to the end of April next. The butter ration is at present as high as it has been at any time except for about six weeks after the date on which butter rationing was first instituted in 1942.
