Vol. 117 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballyduff (County Kerry) and Rural Electrification.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that the Electricity Supply Board carried out a survey of the parish of Ballyduff, Tralee, County Kerry, some months ago; and, if so, whether he will now state what are the prospects of the board's extending rural electrification to the parish in the very near future.

I am aware that a survey of the area to which the Deputy refers was completed by the Electricity Supply Board in May, 1949. The results of this survey as well as those carried out in other areas in County Kerry and elsewhere are under consideration, and I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that they will not be in a position for some time to decide if the Ballyduff area will be selected for development in the rural electrification scheme. I am also informed that a part of the parish in which Ballyduff is situated, known as the Causeway area, was selected for development by the board last month.
