Vol. 117 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rents of Labourers' Cottages.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the estimated average rents to be charged for labourers' cottages now being built by the county council in the rural and urban areas of County Dublin.

I am not yet in a position to give the information requested. Apart from one scheme, the Dublin County Council have not yet submitted their proposals as to the rents proposed.

Will the Minister consider at a later stage introducing legislation to impose a ceiling on the rents of labourers' cottages so that labourers renting cottages will not be asked to pay exorbitant rents or rents which they will be unable to pay after a time?

That is another question.
