Vol. 117 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Emigration Commission Report.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is yet in a position to indicate when the report of the Commission for Emigration will be made available.

Can the Minister say when the commission last met, and how often did it meet?

The Chair will recollect this whole matter was fully discussed on the Estimate for the Department of Social Welfare. I then explained that the commission was meeting at least once a week, that it had a considerable amount of work yet to do and that it was applying itself to the discharge of that work with zeal and diligence. I indicated that the members of the commission, no less than the members of this House, were anxious that the work should be completed at the earliest possible moment, and were directing their attention towards that end.
