Vol. 118 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Officers' Ceremonial Dress.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state what is the precise regulation dress for Army officers on a ceremonial parade.

The precise form of dress to be worn by officers of the Forces on a ceremonial parade is specified in the ceremonial orders which are issued in connection with the particular parade, and varies with the occasion or the nature of the parade, and the corps to which the officer belongs.

Will the Minister say when there are ceremonial parades, such as the presentation of medals, what dress he would expect to be worn on those occasions?

If the Deputy asks what is the order with regard to dress on any particular parade he will be answered. This was a general question and was answered in a general way.

Surely there are some regulations dealing with dress for parades of a ceremonial nature, such as the Minister attended recently when presenting medals?

There are. I have told the Deputy that if he asks a question with regard to any particular named parade, he will get an answer. Now, he asked a question with regard to ceremonial parades generally and he got an answer.
