Vol. 118 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Schemes.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state in which districts of County Galway rural electrification schemes will be undertaken in the year 1950; and what further schemes are projected for the same county.

The selection of an area for development under the rural electrification scheme rests with the Electricity Supply Board and preference is given by the board to those areas where the estimated revenue bears the most satisfactory relation to the capital expenditure involved. I have been informed by the board that the Turloughmore, Kilbeacanty, Glenamaddy and Moycullen areas in the County Galway have been or are at present being canvassed. Until the results of the canvass have been examined, the board will not be in a position to determine if these areas or any of them can be selected for development during the year 1950.
