Vol. 118 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tobacco Development.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that many people are anxious to develop the tobacco industry, and whether, in view of this and of the dollar position, it is his intention to set up a tobacco development board under the provisions of the Tobacco Act, 1934.

It is assumed that the Deputy's question refers to the development of Irish-grown tobacco. There is already a Tobacco Advisory Committee established under the provisions of the Tobacco Act, 1934. It is not considered necessary to set up any further body.
