Vol. 118 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Names of Cork Forts.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is prepared (a) to have the names of Fort Camden and Fort Carlisle, at the entrance to Cork Harbour, changed to names more in harmony with our national traditions; and (b) to have Fort Westmoreland renamed "Mitchelsfort" in view of the fact that John Mitchel was at one time incarcerated there.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will have the names of Fort Carlisle and Fort Camden changed to the O'Neill-Crowley and Captain Mackey Forts, respectively.

I propose with your permission, a Chinn Chomhairle, to take Questions Nos. 25 and 26 together.

The suggestion to rename the forts is receiving attention.
