Vol. 118 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Lead Mine.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he will consider having a survey made at Ringabella, Minane Bridge, County Cork, with a view to having the lead ore mine, which was formerly operated in that area, reopened.

The area mentioned by the Deputy was surveyed geologically many years ago and it was examined again in 1930 by an officer of the Geological Survey. I am advised that there are no mineral deposits in the area which could be developed commercially and that it is most unlikely that a further survey would provide any useful addition to the available geological information. Consequently, I do not propose to have a further survey made of the area.
