Vol. 119 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payment of Pension.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state why the increase payable by law in the pension of Mr. D.J. Buckley, C.E., M.R.I.A.I., former engineer to the North Cork Board of Health, Mallow Urban District Council, and Fermoy Urban District Council, has not yet been granted in view of the fact that all other pensioners in Mr. Buckley's category have been for some time in receipt of such increases.

The county manager decided that the amounts of the superannuation allowances already granted in this case were fair and equitable and refused to grant increases therein. Mr. Buckley appealed against this decision and his appeal has been under consideration by me. While I have not yet issued a formal decision on the appeal, I am in a position to inform the Deputy that I propose to decide the case in favour of the appellant.
