Vol. 119 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ground Limestone.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the contractor or firm who will provide the limestone crushing plant at Ballyneylon, Ennis.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state whether ground limestone will be made available to farmers in County Clare in time for the forthcoming season; and, if so, where and from whom supplies can be obtained and the price at which it will be delivered at Kilrush, Kilkee, Miltown-Malbay, Ennistymon, Kilmihill, Ennis, Tulla, Scariff, Killaloe and Sixmilebridge.

With your permission, a Chinn Chomhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 44 and 45 together. I would refer the Deputy to my reply to his question on this matter on the 15th February last to which I have nothing to add.

I put down this question for the purpose of ascertaining the name of the person or firm who are about to establish this lime-crushing plant in Clare so that I could accede to the request of the Minister when he appealed to me on the Clare County Committee of Agriculture to make representations to that person or firm with a view to proving there was a big demand in County Clare. The Minister has not answered my question.

As the Deputy is aware, it would be quite contrary to custom to name a private firm in Dáil Éireann. In a laudatory sense when dealing with racketeers that is permissible, but the Deputy is familiar with the facilities of the 2½d post, the telephone, or, if he should honour me by a personal call upon myself or any officer of my Department, we are unreservedly at his disposal with this or any other information he may require.

You have forgotten that we got a free post.

Even Monica Duff and Company were mentioned here on one occasion.
