Vol. 119 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Protection of Ballinskelligs Graveyard.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the cause of the delay in erecting the protecting wall at the Abbey Graveyard, Ballinskelligs, County Kerry, for the purpose of preventing further encroachment by the sea and the washing away of the bodies interred therein.

As I informed the Deputy in reply to a question on this subject in July last, the Kerry County Council's proposals for a sea wall at Ballinskelligs Graveyard were approved by the Office of Public Works in March, 1949, but the question of the financing of the work was the subject of subsequent negotiations. The carrying out of the work on an agreed basis was approved by my Department last month.
