Vol. 119 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water Supply at Offaly National School.

asked the Minister for Education whether he is aware that there is no public pump to supply the needs of the national school at Pullough, Rahan, Tullamore, County Offaly, and whether his Department will make a grant to the local authority for it in view of the fact that the school cannot do without drinking water for the children attending school.

I am aware that there is no public pump conveniently near to Pullough National School, Rahan, Tullamore, Offaly. In cases such as this the responsibility for providing a public water supply, which would serve households in the district as well as the school, rests entirely on the local authority.

I cannot, therefore, make a grant as suggested by the Deputy, but I will make further inquiries into the circumstances of this case.
