Vol. 119 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Survey of Claremorris Area.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether, with particular reference to the present inadequate postal services in Irishtown, he will state whether the survey of services in the Claremorris area has been completed.

A survey of the Claremorris area has not yet been undertaken, and I am not in a position at present to say when it is likely to begin.

In connection with the reorganisation of the mail services which is now being carried out throughout the country, I would like to take this opportunity of advising Deputies that the task is a very formidable one. The mail services in each district have to be closely examined, all postmen's routes carefully scrutinised, mail van routes planned, and the circulation of correspondence throughout the district adjusted in delivery and in despatch. Deputies will appreciate, therefore, that it is not possible to say when a particular district is likely to be completed, but I can assure the Deputy that I am most anxious to secure as expeditiously as possible the complete reorganisation of the services throughout the whole country.
