Vol. 120 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Oulart Hotel.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the amount paid by the Irish Tourist Board for the Oulart Hotel, Courtown Harbour, Gorey, County Wexford, and the amount received for it when it was sold in 1949.

The Irish Tourist Board purchased the Courtown estate comprising Courtown House and approximately 464 acres of land together with the premises formerly known as Levuka House for £16,464 (including law costs, etc.). Levuka House was subsequently converted for use as an hotel and renamed Oulart Hotel. The estate was purchased as one lot and it is not possible to state the amount of the purchase price referable to Oulart Hotel. Expenditure amounting to £19,164 was incurred by the board on development, furnishing, etc., most of which was related to Oulart Hotel. The hotel, with approximately ten acres of land, was sold by public auction for £9,600. Law costs, etc., amounted to £473 and the amount received by the board was £9,127.
