Vol. 120 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission have agreed to permit the sale, in three lots, of portion of the lands of Mr. M.J. Mellett, Lakeview, Mullaghmore, Moylough, County Galway; and, if so, why the Land Commission did not take steps to acquire the land for the relief of congestion in view of the fact that 18 to 20 tenants of the commission, whose valuations range from £1 5s. 0d. to £10 0s. 0d., made representations to the commission to have it acquired for this purpose.

The Land Commission consented to the sale of 37 acres of these lands in three lots to local farmers. The necessity for relieving congestion in this area is receiving attention.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that Mr. James Hannon, Mullaghmore, Moylough, County Galway, has offered his lands to the Land Commission, and if he will state what steps the commission have taken to have acquisition expedited in view of the local congestion.

Mr. Hannon recently applied to the Land Commission for an exchange of holdings. A decision has not yet been reached on his application.
