Vol. 120 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Electricity Supply Board Accounts.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the name of the consumer to whom was supplied the electrical energy represented by a sum of £9,718 in respect of electricity purchased in bulk shown in the accounts of the electricity Supply Board for the year ending 31st March, 1949.

Electricity purchased in bulk for the sum of £9,718, set out in the accounts of the Electricity Supply Board for the year ending 31st March, 1949, was partly sold to consumers in the Letterkenny, Lifford and Convoy areas, and the balance was fed into the main transmission system.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether he will request the Electricity Supply Board to take steps to relieve the consumer of current supplied at the flat rate for private dwelling-houses of the burden of paying 200 per cent. more than the average price per unit charged to the aggregate of 284,198 consumers set out in the accounts of the board for the year ended 31st March, 1949.

I have no function in connection with the fixing of scales of charges for electricity. The responsibility in this matter rests under statute with the Electricity Supply Board.
