Vol. 120 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sale of Irish Wool.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will make arrangements for the sale, direct to the U.S.A., of surplus Irish wool with a view to increasing our dollar earnings.

Substantial quantities of the types of wool for which there is a market in the U.S.A. are sold direct to that country. Every effort is being made to increase the export of Irish goods to the dollar area and I do not consider anything would be gained by making special arrangements in regard to wool exports over which there is at present no control.
