Vol. 120 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Afforestation in Kerry.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that a large area of land is being offered to his Department for afforestation purposes by farmers in the Cordal district, County Kerry; and, if so, whether he is in a position to make a definite statement in the matter.

The Forestry Division is negotiating for the purchase of 750 acres of land in the Toureenascarty district. When the purchase is completed, offers of 700 acres at Dromnadamore, Knockatee and Kilquane will be reexamined. A large area may also become available at Glenlarahan. Negotiations are also taking place for the purchase of 850 acres in the Glenown area, and if these are successful, the purchase of 360 acres at Glenawaddra will be considered.
