Vol. 120 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Tourist Board Loans.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if loans from the Irish Tourist Board are made available to hotel owners to enable them to improve their hotels; and, if so, the amount so advanced in the year 1949 and the terms governing such loans.

The Tourist Traffic Act, 1939, empowers the Irish Tourist Board to make loans to hotel owners to enable them to improve their hotels. No such loans were advanced by the board in the year 1949. The general question of the terms and conditions on which loans for the improvement of hotels should be made is at present under consideration.

May I ask the Minister if applications were made by hotel owners for loans?

I understand a few applications were received.
