Vol. 121 No. 5

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Summer Seaside Buses.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will grant licences to Córas Iompair Éireann to operate buses this summer, particularly on Sundays, direct to the seaside from Cabra, Cabra West, Kimmage, Crumlin, Drimnagh, Donnycarney, Whitehall, Walkinstown, Ballyfermot and other newly built-up areas in Dublin.

I am informed by Córas Iompair Éireann that although these services were not well patronised last year it is their intention to provide services on week-days during the school holidays between densely populated city areas and the seaside, similar to those operated last year. The company inform me that they are unable to provide similar services on Sundays, because of the heavy additional traffic on the regular routes to places such as Dún Laoghaire, Dalkey and Dollymount.
