asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission intend to acquire Keady's non-residential farm at Glenafasha, Tuam, County Galway, and, if not, if he will state the reasons.

Proceedings were instituted for the acquisition of these lands. An objection to acquisition was upheld by the Land Commission Court.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware of the acute congestion that exists in Annaghdown, County Galway, and, if so, if he will state what steps are being taken by the Land Commission to acquire the Blake and other lands which are suitable for the relief of the uneconomic holders in that area.

The Land Commission are aware of the congestion in this district and they have taken steps to relieve it. Portion of the Blake estate has been acquired and other lands in the area are the subject of resumption proceedings.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission have again sub-let the vacated holding of Mr. James Tierney, a migrant, at Cappagh, Dearing estate, County Galway; and, if so, if he will state (a) the date on which the letting was made; (b) the original date fixed; (c) the reason for the postponement; (d) the price paid by each individual purchaser; (e) the names of the purchasers, and (f) whether the local congests were given preference, and if not, why.

Arrangements were made by the stock-manager to let on 15th March, 1950, the portions of the holding, excluding the portion let last year to the previous occupant, and on that date eight lettings were made. The stock-manager was unable to let the balance of the holding until the 18th of March and two further lettings were made in respect of the balance on that date. There was no postponement.

As in all cases of lettings of land by the Land Commission, due regard was had to local requirements. The ten lessees in the case in question are local smallholders. Their names are John Bowens, Peter Tierney, Mary Cunniffe, Patrick Bowens, Patrick Mullarkey, John Gilmore, James Keaveney, Michael Kearney, Pat Fox and John Keaveney. As regards the prices paid for the lettings, it is not the practice to disclose information of this description which is confidential as between the Land Commission and the lessees.
