Vol. 121 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Droum Pier Improvements.

Mr. Murphy

asked the Minister for Finance if he has received representations in connection with the widening of the pier at Droum, Leap, County Cork, which is being used by farmers for the haulage of sand; and, if so, what progress has been made by his Department in dealing with the matter.

The Deputy's recent representations to the Department of Agriculture on this matter have been referred to my office for investigation.

I should make it clear, however, that I have no responsibility for marine works of the kind in question except to the extent to which they prove to be suitable subjects for the relief of unemployment.

An inspection will be made at the first convenient opportunity, when the work will be considered on its merits for the relief of unemployment in competition with other proposals for relief works in the area.
