asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state in reference to the proposal to hold an examination for employment clerks for which temporary clerks will be eligible to compete (1) the probable date on which the examination will be held, and (2) the standard of examination, so that temporary clerks eligible for the competition who are a number of years left school will have due warning and opportunity to overcome this handicap.

The proposed examination for posts as employment clerk confined to temporary clerks in employment exchanges will be held about the last week in September or the first week in October. The standard of the examination and other conditions applicable thereto will be set out in the statutory regulations and conditions of service which will shortly be available from the Civil Service Commission.
