Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Composition of Córas Iompair Éireann Board.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the terms of appointment of the members of the Córas Iompair Éireann Board.

The chairman of the new Board of Córas Iompair Éireann will be required to devote the whole of his time to his duties as chairman and member of the board. Each of the six part-time members of the board will be required to devote to the performance of his duties as a member of the board so much of his time as may be necessary to the proper and efficient discharge by him of those duties. The remuneration of the chairman has been fixed at the rate of £4,500 a year as compared with the payment of £6,500 a year made to the former chairman of the company. The remuneration of each of the part-time members of the board has been fixed at the rate of £500 a year as compared with the payments of £1,500 a year made to the deputy-chairman and £900 a year made to each of the other members of the Board of Córas Iompair Éireann (1945). Members of the board who are not resident in or near Dublin will also be entitled to subsistence allowances and free travelling on the services of Córas Iompair Éireann in respect of attendance at meetings of the board. The period of office in all cases is five years.
