Vol. 121 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Reconstruction Grants.

Mr. Murphy

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will take steps to deal with the application of Mary E. Kearney, Coronea, Skibbereen, County Cork, for payment of a reconstruction grant.

Authority has been given for the payment of a grant of £80 in this case. The delay arising in the case has been due almost wholly to delay by the applicant in furnishing evidence of eligibility.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, when introducing the new housing regulation, he will consider inserting a clause making available reconstruction grants to all householders under a certain valuation regardless of their occupations and whether or not they live in an urban or in a rural area.

I hope that my proposals for amending legislation, when introduced, will meet to a considerable extent the points raised by the Deputy.
