Vol. 121 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tipperary Labourer's Cottage.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state why Mr. Philip Clery, Loughloghery, Cahir, an agricultural labourer, was refused a labourer's cottage on the lands of Mr. Matthew Hennessy, Cahir.

I presume that the Deputy's question refers to the selection of a site for a labourer's cottage on the lands of Mr. Matthew Hennessy, Cahir, which was included in a compulsory purchase order made by the Tipperary (S.R.) County Council in 1947. The site was subsequently found to be incorrectly marked on the map deposited with the order and for this reason it had to be excluded from the order. It is, however, open to the council to submit a fresh proposal for the acquisition of the site in question. Pending the acquisition of the site and the decision of the county managers on applications in accordance with the Housing (Management and Letting) Regulations, 1950, I would not find it possible to comment on the eligibility of a particular individual.
