Vol. 121 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cobh Dispensary.

asked the Minister for Health if he has made inquiries as promised regarding the urgent necessity for the provision of a second dispensary in Cobh, in the Harbour Row area; and, if so, if he will now direct or instruct the South Cork Board of Assistance to make provision accordingly.

I have made inquiries regarding the necessity for the provision of a second dispensary in Cobh and I am informed that the question of providing premises for the Harbour Row area is under consideration by the board of public assistance for the South Cork public assistance district.

The people in that particular area in Cobh badly need dispensary facilities. I would ask the Minister to take immediate steps to influence the South Cork Board of Assistance to take a residence there for a dispensary. Apparently they are ignoring all requests and appeals.

Is the Minister aware that the superintendent of home assistance for that area has reported that there is no necessity for a second dispensary in Cobh?
