The proposal does not qualify for a full-cost grant under minor employment schemes. An application was made for this work under the rural improvements scheme in November, 1943, but when an offer of a grant was issued it was not accepted by the applicants. I shall arrange to notify the spokesman that the terms of the scheme have recently been revised, and to send him a form on which the parties concerned can, if they wish, renew their application.

An application under the rural improvements scheme for the repair of this road is at present under consideration, and it is hoped to issue an offer of a grant to the applicants in the near future.
