Vol. 122 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Laoighis Burial Ground.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether any proposal for the provision of a new burial ground between the towns of Ballyroan and Abbeyleix has been submitted to his Department and, if so, whether he is prepared to sanction the proposal.

A petition has been presented to me by the Laoighis County Council for powers to acquire otherwise than by agreement, lands at Knocknamoe, Abbeyleix, for the purpose of providing a burial ground. A local inquiry was held on the 10th May and I have recently received the report of the inspector who held the inquiry. I hope to be in a position to give a decision in the near future.
