Vol. 123 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Slaughter of Hares.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he is aware that a large number of hares are being slaughtered for export to Great Britain; and, if so, if he will take steps to prevent this practice.

I have received no complaints in regard to this matter, and I would point out to the Deputy that the export of dead hares is prohibited, save under permit, by Emergency Powers (Control of Exports) (Amendment) (No. 22) Order, 1944, which has been continued in force by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act.
