Vol. 123 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Industrial Development Authority Reports.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state what proposals and schemes for the creation and development of Irish industries have been recommended or reported upon to him by the Industrial Development Authority, and what surveys of possibilities for further industrial development have been made, and whether it is intended to apprise the Dáil of the general character and nature of such surveys and schemes.

The authority has submitted to me a number of schemes for the creation and expansion of industries, but it would be undesirable at this stage to disclose information regarding such proposals. The Deputy is, no doubt, aware that a number of proposals relating, inter alia, to tariffs and quotas which have been agreed to by the Government were the result of proposals made by the authority for the expansion of industry. Certain surveys have been undertaken and others are in contemplation, but it would not be in the public interest to supply particulars relating to these at this stage.
