*The two factories in respect of which employment figures are set out are operated under the auspices of the Minister for Lands. It is not desirable to give individual employment figures in respect of the undertakings operated by private interests.
†The factory at Casla was burnt down in September, 1950; it is being rebuilt at Spiddal where at present only a skeleton staff of 6 or 7 is employed.
