Vol. 123 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Garda Pensions.

asked the Minister for Finance if he has replied to the query raised by letter to him, dated the 14th July, 1950, and acknowledged on 21st idem, from an ex-Garda sergeant now resident in London asking whether, on his taking up a post in England for which he was to be remunerated out of British public funds, his Garda pension would be abated; and, further, if he will state the position generally with regard to such cases.

The answer to the first part of the Deputy's question is in the affirmative.

As regards the second part, the position under the Garda Síochána Pensions Orders is that if a Garda pensioner takes up a post remunerated out of British public funds no more of his pension is paid than, with his earnings in that post, equals the pay he had at the time of his retirement from the Garda.
