Vol. 124 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Glin Housing Scheme Delay.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware of the urgent need for houses at Glin and if he will state the cause of the delay in proceeding with the scheme of 24 houses already approved for this village and the date on which work is likely to start.

I am aware that there is a need for new houses in Glin and final plans for a scheme of 24 houses to meet that need were approved by me in October, 1950. The scheme was advertised for tender on the 7th November, 1950, and ten tenders were received by the Limerick County Council. These have now been examined by the technical officers of the council and I understand that the county manager intends to seek my approval to the acceptance of one of the tenders. The Deputy can be assured that no avoidable delay will occur in my Department in clearing any further preliminaries to starting building operations.
