Vol. 124 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Flour Ration Coupons.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that traders with whom customers have lodged pages from special ration books entitling them to increased rations of flour are seriously inconvenienced by his failure to issue instructions to flour millers on the procedure to be adopted to recoup traders for flour issued against these coupons, and if he will have this position rectified without further delay.

I think the inconvenience caused to traders cannot be serious. The ration is sufficiently generous to leave every trader in possession of a leave surplus flour, and out of this surplus he should be able to meet the wants of the occasional person who lodges with him pages from the special ration book. I regret that I cannot see my way to alter the existing arrangements.
