Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition and Division of Land.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring for distribution the non-residential farm of Mr. Thomas Conlon, Dunowla, Templeboy, County Sligo; and, if acquisition is contemplated, when it will be acquired.

Proceedings have been instituted for the acquisition of this farm, but it is not possible to state what the outcome will be.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the present position regarding the acquisition by the Land Commission of the lands of Mr. Charles O'Rourke, Clooneyquin, County Roscommon (French estate).

These lands have been inspected and valued and a decision will be taken in due course.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the stage reached in the proceedings for the acquisition of the McCormack estate at Grange, County Roscommon.

Possession of the estate was taken some weeks ago.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether investigations regarding the acquisition of the lands of Mr. James Garrick, Gailey, Knockcroghery, County Roscommon, have been completed and a decision made.

The Land Commission have no proceedings for acquisition of these lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the purchase of the lands at Gailey and Mountpleasant (Coffey estate) has yet been completed; and, if so, whether he will make arrangements to have these lands let to the local congests and small farmers during the coming year for grazing and tillage.

The Deputy's question would appear to refer to the lands of Mountplunkett and Carrowndrisha on the Coffey estate, Record No. S. 9787. The proceedings in this case have not yet been completed. If possession is taken before the Land Commission are ready to allot the lands lettings will be made and due regard will be had to the needs of local congests.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that Mr. Patrick Mooney is in possession of a non-residential holding of land at Boleyboy, Irishtown, County Mayo; whether he will ascertain from the Land Commission if they have considered the propriety of acquiring the holding for the relief of local congestion; and, if so, with what result.

Proceedings were instituted for the resumption of the holding in question but a petition against resumption was granted. Mr. Mooney has asked for an exchange holding for a surrender of all his lands in the area and this is under consideration.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that a Mrs. Judge is the owner of a non-residential holding of land at Aughervilla, Clare-morris, County Mayo; whether he will ascertain from the Land Commission whether they have considered the propriety of acquiring this land for the relief of local congestion; and, if so, with what result.

A decision has not yet been reached in this case.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the position regarding the acquisition of the holding of Mr. Michael Cullina, Knockadoon, Irishtown, County Mayo.

The Land Commission are having this holding inspected and valued with a view to acquisition.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the stage reached in the acquisition of the estate of Mary Nolan (S. 725 (397)) and the acreage involved.

This estate of 379 acres was taken over by the Land Commission a short time ago.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the stage reached in the acquisition of the estate of Delany (Record No. S.767) and the acreage involved.

The proceedings in this case have reached the stage of arranging for the taking of possession of the lands which comprise 107½ acres.
