Vol. 124 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of Adrigole River.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether any scheme has been received in his Department for draining and cleaning the river at Adrigole; and, if not, and in view of the constant flooding which occurs in bad weather, whether he will have the matter taken up with the Cork County Council.

A scheme for Adrigole on the lines indicated by the Deputy was submitted by the Cork County Council as part of the proposals for 1950-51 under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949. Approval issued on the 12th June last.

It is a matter for the local authority to decide the time at which approved works for the purpose of grant are to be put in hands and it would, therefore, be contrary to practice for me to suggest an alteration in any order of priorities settled by a county council itself.
