Vol. 124 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Sluice Gate.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that in 1926 the Land Commission started work on the erection of a sluice gate at Reena-lagane, Glenbeigh (Winn estate), which was not completed and that owing to the non-completion of this work a large area of land is submerged; and, if so, whether he will arrange for the completion of this sluice at the earliest possible date.

The Deputy appears to have been misinformed in this matter. There was an existing sluice at Reena-lagane and in 1926 the Land Commission repaired it after the benefiting land holders had signed an undertaking for future maintenance. The work was fully carried out in 1926 and the Land Commission do not propose to repair the sluice again.
