Vol. 124 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Blarney Mills Unemployment.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that upwards of 100 workers in the Blarney mills have been disemployed, due to the recent removal of the tariff on imported wool tops which resulted in the cessation of the manufacture of these tops at the mills; and, if so, if he will indicate what steps he proposes to take with a view to restoring the employment of these workers.

Disemployment due to the cause stated could not possibly exist, because there was no recent removal of any duty on wool tops, which have not been liable to customs duty since 1936.
