The simple average of the annual yields of wheat per statute acre in Ireland for the three-year period ending 1950 was 17.9 cwt. The corresponding figure for the three-year period ending 1940 was 19.2 cwt.
I would like to ask the Parliamentary Secretary how can he reconcile the figure he has given with the statement of the Minister for Agriculture that wheat yields have increased 100 per cent. since the present Government took office?
