Vol. 125 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Comic-Cuts Print.

asked the Minister for Health whether he is aware that many parents of children who read comiccuts consider that the small lettering is a danger to the children's eyesight; and, if so, whether he will consider taking steps to ensure that such material can be read without difficulty by specifying print of a minimum size to be used.

To specify a minimum size of print for use in periodicals read by children is not a matter in which I have any functions and it would be inconsistent to seek such functions. While, therefore, I have sympathy with the Deputy's fears as implied in the question, I feel that I could not take any practicable steps to avert the possible dangers.
