Written Answers. - Military Service (Pensions) Act, 1927.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state whether, under the amending Act of 1943 to the Military Service (Pensions) Act, 1927, the widow of the late Commandant Joseph Ahearne is entitled to a pension.

A form of application has been issued to Mrs. Cecilia Ahearne, Carrigeen, Croaghta Park, Glasheen Road, Cork, widow of the late ex-Captain Joseph Ahearne, to enable her to claim an allowance under the Army Pensions Act, 1927, as amended by the Army Pensions Act, 1943. When the completed form is returned, I will have the case referred to the Army Pensions Board for immediate consideration.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the necessary steps to provide the widow and family of the late Commandant Joseph Ahearne with a pension equal to the disability pension which he was in receipt of at the time of his death in view of the fact that he died of the disease for which he was awarded the disability pension.
