asked the Minister for Justice if he will state the Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries and officers of the Dáil and Seanad for whose use State cars are now provided and how many cars were being employed in this service at 31st December, 1947, and how many are at present allotted to it.

State cars are at present provided for the use of the Taoiseach, all Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries, the Attorney-General, the Ceann Comhairle, and the Leas-Cheann Comhairle, a total of 18 persons. Twenty-five cars, including reserve cars, are employed in this service.

On 31st December, 1947, State cars were provided for all Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries, the Attorney-General and the Ceann Comhairle, a total of 15 persons. A State car was not provided for the Taoiseach who was in receipt of an allowance for a private car. Twenty-three cars, including reserve cars, were then employed in this service.
