Vol. 126 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cost of Wheat Production.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will immediately investigate the cost of production of wheat in view of the uneconomic price at present being paid and the increased cost of farm machinery parts, fertilisers and bindertwine with a view to fixing an economic price for this season's crop.

It would not be possible to cost the production of wheat before making the Statutory Wheat Order for 1951, under which prices will be fixed. I can assure the Deputy, however, that all relevant considerations will be examined as fully as possible before that Order is made.
