Vol. 126 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drogheda Cement Factory.

asked the Minister for industry and Commerce if he has yet come to a decision on the question of the extension to the Drogheda factory of Cement, Limited.

I am examining this matter at the moment with a view to reaching an early decision.

Is it a fact that the cement company concerned will agree to the extension only on condition that they get an increased rate of interest on their capital?

I am not so aware.

Will the Minister inquire into that?

I certainly will.

Will the Minister give an undertaking that it will not take him three years to make up his mind in this matter?

I think I can give the Deputy that undertaking confidently.

Is it not a fact that the Minister had, in fact, given what amounted to an undertaking that increased profits would be allowed to the cement company?

No, it is not a fact.

Very close to it.

Nothing near it.
