Vol. 126 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Water Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will indicate the present position regarding the proposed regional water supply scheme at Ballea, Carrigaline, County Cork.

The preliminary proposals submitted by Cork County Council for a regional water supply scheme based on the Owenboy River at Ballea were approved in principle last March. Suggestions with regard to the design and the areas to be served which were conveyed to the council for consideration are, I understand, being examined at present.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will indicate the present position regarding the proposed Timoleague-Courtmacsherry water supply scheme.

Contract documents for this scheme have been received from the sanitary authority and are under examination in the Department.

Will the Minister say if this matter will be expedited?

These documents have been with us only for a very short time.

I appreciate that but, knowing the delay that there is in general, which is not the fault of the Department——

There will be no delay that can be avoided.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the present position regarding the proposed Bandon sewerage scheme and if he will indicate the approximate date on which work will be commenced.

I understand that detailed plans and revised estimate for this scheme are being prepared by the sanitary authority. I am not in a position to indicate when the work will be commenced.
