Vol. 126 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wexford Town Bridge.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state when approval will be given to the Wexford County Council to proceed with the erection of a new bridge at Wexford town; and further, if he will say what State grant may be expected from his Department.

The Wexford County Council have been informed that it is proposed to make a bridge Order on the lines requested by them for the construction of a bridge to replace the existing Wexford bridge, and that a Road Fund grant of 60 per cent. of the cost, subject to a maximum grant of £180,000, may be expected.

Would the Minister be able to state at this stage what the State grant was in respect of the bridge which was recently erected or which it was proposed to erect in Donegal? I think it was the Gwee-barra bridge.

I have no information concerning that bridge, except that it is taking a long time to construct it.

Would the Minister say if 60 per cent. is the usual amount of a State grant?

Yes, 60 per cent.
