Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Poultry Production.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the total number of day-old chicks supplied by licensed hatcheries to poultry producers during the hatching season up to the 31st May, 1951, with comparative figures for the 1950 and 1949 hatching seasons.

Mr. Walsh

The number of day-old chicks supplied by licensed hatcheries to poultry producers during the 1948-49 hatching season was 3,830,000. During the 1949-50 season, the number was 3,590,000. The 1950-51 hatching season has still a week to run and it is estimated that the total number of chicks distributed for the season will be approximately 3,700,000.
